No Plan B? We Beg to Differ.

CB '26 Olympics

In light of the recent report by ESPN stating there is “no plan B” if the main ice hockey arena for the 2026 Winter Games is not ready in time, CB Construction is stepping forward with an offer to provide a dedicated team of seasoned construction managers to support on the ground delivery and help ensure the project meets its deadline.

“At CB Construction, we thrive in technically demanding, high pressure environments because that is where our team’s discipline, expertise, and commitment to community truly shine. When stakes are high and timelines are unforgiving, we do not flinch, we deliver. In 2022, we proved exactly that by completing a state of the art hockey arena for the nation’s premier private boarding school under extraordinary constraints and expectations. The project demanded precision, coordination, and constant problem solving, and our team rose to meet every challenge. We stand ready to bring that same level of excellence and resolve to the Olympic arena, ensuring athletes, fans, and the global community receive the world class venue they deserve.”

– Conor Evans, Managing Partner, CB Construction

Why We Are Stepping In

Critical deadline looming: The 16,000 seat Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena slated to host the return of NHL level competition at the Milan Cortina Olympics remains incomplete, with testing now postponed until early January.

No safety net: According to organizers, there is no backup plan if construction is not finalized in time.

Time sensitive coordination required: Beyond ice quality, the facility must ensure readiness of critical support infrastructure, including locker rooms, concessions, ingress and egress, bathrooms, mechanical systems, and more.

What CB Construction Is Offering

CB Construction proposes to deploy a specialized oversight and management unit composed of senior construction managers, quality control leads, and scheduling experts to collaborate directly with the local construction team. Responsibilities include:

  • Recovery schedule analysis, creation, implementation, accelerated project tracking and reporting, including daily status updates, milestone tracking, and identification of potential bottlenecks before they become delays.
  • Coordination and logistics support to streamline workflows among contractors, subcontractors, materials suppliers, and testing crews to optimize throughput.
  • Quality assurance and compliance checks to ensure that ice arena construction, mechanical systems, spectator facilities, and safety requirements meet the high standards required for international competition.
  • Risk mitigation and contingency planning to proactively implement backup plans for critical path issues such as structural, mechanical, and finishing items even if the official plan B is not declared.

Qualifications

With decades of experience managing high stakes commercial construction projects, including complex logistical builds like arenas, community facilities, and mixed use developments, CB Construction brings a proven track record of on time delivery, regulatory compliance, and hands on project management. Our leadership understands the urgency and the reputational stakes involved in global events, and we treat deadlines as inviolable.

A Call to Action

CB Construction urges the organizing committee and stakeholders behind the Santagiulia project to accept this offer. We stand ready to mobilize immediately, even on short notice, in order to safeguard the integrity of the Olympics schedule and ensure that athletes and fans worldwide can enjoy a first class hockey venue as planned.
